Description
Built in the early 20th century, the Ashokan Reservoir in Ulster County, NY supplies water to New York City. Twelve communities were impounded so that the valley could be flooded for the reservoir. This is a popular spot for walking, and a rail trail has been added nearby. Skilled Italian stoneworkers were brought over to construct the eye-catching bridge which carries cars and pedestrians over the reservoir.
