Artist's Description
Poughkeepsie, the county seat of Dutchess County in the Hudson Valley, was settled in the 17th century by the Dutch and, shortly after the Revolutionary War, became the second capital of New York. Nicknamed "the Queen City of the Hudson," it boasts several cultural attractions, including the historic Bardavon Theater (host to an amazing variety of events from comedy to classical music to classic rock) and the state historic park Walkway over the Hudson, made from a fire-damaged railway bridge that was converted and reopened to pedestrian traffic in 2009. This image shows oneof the buildings in Main Mall Row, a section of Main Street that was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
