Artist's Description

Poughkeepsie, the county seat of Dutchess County in the Hudson Valley, was settled in the 17th century by the Dutch and, shortly after the Revolutionary War, became the second capital of New York. Nicknamed "the Queen City of the Hudson," it boasts several cultural attractions, including the historic Bardavon Theater (host to an amazing variety of events from comedy to classical music to classic rock) and the state historic park Walkway over the Hudson, made from a fire-damaged railway bridge that was converted and reopened to pedestrian traffic in 2009. This image shows the rear of some buildings in the town center that have been enhanced by the street art typical of Poughkeepsie. The original colors of the walls at the top blend seamlessly with the art.

As a trained historian, one of my great passions is to photograph old buildings. Whether abandoned ruins or...
