The Nubble Light, more properly known as Cape Neddick Lighthouse, perches on the Rocky coast of Maine near York. A popular tourist attraction, the Nubble Light is easily accessible -- just drive right up to it, you don't need a boat.
Funding of $15,000 was approved by President Rutherford B. Hayes for the construction of this lighthouse in 1874, and in 1879 the lighthouse was completed. Initially operated by Coast Guard staff and their families, the Nubble Light became automated in 1987. The lighthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places.
