Description
Harkins Hall is the founding building of Providence College and is named after Bishop Matthew Harkins, who provided the land for the college in 1917. Providence College is run by the Dominican Friars, or Order of Preachers. Despite the amazing growth of the college since its founding, through the acquisition of new property and construction of new buildings, the Gothic-style Harkins Hall still takes pride of place as the impressive building that greets you as you approach from Providence College's entrance gate at Cunningham Square. This photograph shows a close-up of the statue of Virgin Mary and the American flag.
