Description
An outstanding example of Romantic landscape design, Poets Walk, north of Rhinecliff in Dutchess County, with its stunning scenic vistas will take you back to an era when such rural pastoral landscape was the rule rather than the exception. Poets Walk Park was created in the 1840s as a series of outdoor rooms and derives its name from the many writers who enjoyed walking here. One of these writers was Washington Irving, and it is said that the view of the Catskills inspired him to write Rip Van Winkle.

Betsy -- this image was made in spring but it's a beautiful place in the fall as well. Try to get there then if you can. Rt 103 going north just a bit from the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge.
