Artist's Description

This image of the Pell (Newport-Jamestown) Bridge in Rhode Island is from the shore near the Jamestown village center. With a main span of 1,601 ft., the Pell Bridge is the longest suspension bridge in New England and one of the longest in the world. It carries Rt. 138 over the East Passage of Narragansett Bay. Often known simply as the Newport Bridge, it was renamed in 1992 for U.S. Senator Claiborne Pell.
