The Hudson-Athens Lighthouse is a reminder of an era when the riverside town of Hudson, near Albany, was (incredibly) a major whaling port. The lighthouse was constructed in 1874 to warn mariners of Middle Ground Flats, a sandy ridge in the middle of the Hudson River.
